Plant, water and enjoy for the first 2-3 years. After that some light pruning may be needed. Prune only for the following purposes:
1. Removing dead or broken branches.
2. Removing thin twiggy wood that accumulates near the base in old plants.
3. Removing old stems that have lost vigor and no longer produce vigorous new shoots.
4. To thin and shape by removal of some old canes.
Moderate but consistent moisture is needed. To keep birds from fruit protective nets may be needed.
